Weather pet door has a a unique triple flap pet door which will keep either extreme heat
and cold weather out of your home while still giving your pets the freedom to come and go.
This well-designed pet door has a maximum energy efficiency that’s more than 3½
times higher than our standard single-flap pet doors.
The
Extreme Weather Pet Door or Rough Weather Dog Door is unique in that it is the first ever
to include three flaps. The inner and outer flaps are the same : a standard or traditional
vinyl flap that is translucent that fastens across the top with screws. There is
accordion-style pleating on the edges of these two flap to help maintain a seal as the
flap contracts in colder weather. There are no additional weather-stripping or
magnets along the flap sides. At the bottom, the flaps include a magnet running the full
width of the flap. These magnets attract a "floating" threshold which is,
itself, a magnet that is free to move up and down approximately 1/16". A
really neat or innovative feature here is that the flap screws fix into slots allowing the
user to position the flap for best height in relation to the threshold at the bottom.
The
third, or middle insulating flap on the Extreme Weather Pet Door is totally unique in pet
doors. It's made of a very strong, hollow envelope composed of an insulating
material which fastens across the top with screws. While this fastening method can
be an issue with vinyl flaps (repeated flexing will cause them to eventually fail and need
replacing), the flexible material used in this middle insulating pet door flap is
extremely flexible and will be unaffected by movement.
The
locking cover, PetSafe's "Snap-On Weather Shield", loads from the front ( quite
literally "snapping-on" ) which alleviates any problems with overhead door
knobs, etc, interfering with its use as would be the case with a "top-load"
style locking cover.
The
self-framing adjustment range is 11/2"- 2 inches (3.8-5cm). Frame color
is white only. Both frame and locking cover are injection molded plastic.
